According to the New York Post, 1 in 4 Americans say that the day after the Super Bowl should be declared a National Holiday. The Sports Hangover, a popular podcast among sports fans, has finally answered American’s wishes.

February 3rd 2020 marks the first annual National Sports Hangover Day, as declared by the Hangover Network. This holiday states that the Monday after Super Bowl Sunday should officially be a day of rest.

The Super Bowl is undoubtedly the most-watched sporting event of the year. It’s no surprise that the day after Super Bowl has become known unofficially as “super sick Monday”.

An estimated 17.2 million people missed work the day after last year’s Super Bowl when the Patriots beat the Rams in 2019. This marked the largest ever anticipated day of Super Bowl-related absenteeism since 2005. In addition, 26% of workers feel less productive on the day after Super Bowl.
